Fashion Friday: Weekend Outfit

Whether you are headed to a wedding this weekend or a BBQ with friends, here are five items that will get you there in style. In the summer, I am a huge believer that less is more. Maybe its the heat, maybe its the beauty of tan skin, but I really find myself wearing less accessories and more stand alone pieces. Not to mention a pedicure with a fun pop of color on the toes.

Have a wonderful weekend!
Au revior,
Jamie

Soon-to-be Mrs. Fashion.

I recently shared on Julie Blanner’s blog my favorite wedding fashion which is from the Kate Spade Mrs. bridal line.

As a recent bride, I am sad that this line launched after I got married. These make great gifts from bridesmaids to the bride, mother of the bride and definitely the husband.

Mrs passport holder from your mother.
Mrs earrings from the bridesmaids.
I Kissed a Frog clutch for the bachelorette party.
Fella flat for the reception and honeymoon.
Mrs cosmetic bag as a treat for yourself for the honeymoon.
I Do necklace from the husband.

Celebrate Mom

I hope everyone knows by now it is Mother’s Day on Sunday. This means you should have brunch planned, a nice outfit selected (one that she would approve) and a gift in hand, er, in mind! While writing this, I do have to admit, I have none of those items mentioned checked off my list. Thats why I enlist you, our dear readers, do better than I. Without having a deep discussion about food, family and logistics, I can not help you with brunch, but I can offer a few tips on gifts. I have my go-to list for my mother and it always seems to work! She likes gardening, jewelry and stuff for the kitchen. Since she watches Food Network a lot – I mean a lot, that and HGTV – I thought getting her cookbooks was a great idea for awhile. I have noticed over the years, those just seemed to collect dust. Now I try to answer the question, would she buy this for herself (if not, then buy it)? And is there something outdated I can help her replace?

Hope you enjoy your weekend with you Mother’s near and far. Make sure to give them love and appreciation for raising such wonderful people!

Au revoir,
Jamie

Gift Ideas for the Graduate

Remember that feeling you had when you were a senior in high school? You had the world ahead of you, mom and dad footing the bills and not a care in the world. Story is a little different when you graduate college, I was more worried about finding a job and establishing myself as an adult. Whether you know someone graduating high school, college or kindergarten (ok maybe not K), I pulled some of my top gifts for graduates to help with the next chapter in their journey. And if you dont have time for gifts, I think all graduates would appreciate some cash too!

Au revoir,
Jamie

P.S. Can you believe its May already? It will be summer before you know it. I dont know about you, but I  have been working on my bikini bod.

Tim Gunn on the Plaza.

Jamie and I were able to attend the event on Saturday where Tim Gunn debuted the new spring 2012 collection for Kate Spade New York and Lucky Brand Jeans on the Plaza. Tim Gunn is the Project Runway mentor and a fashion guru that we all know and love. The event included Tim discussing the new fashion trends as well as a great Q&A session.

Tim was able to include some of his Tim-ism’s during his visit such as “carry-on” and “make it work”.
Here’s a few other great tips he provided (and I will immediately be doing!):
  • Everything in your closet should multitask except your wedding dress. Shop your closet!
  • You don’t have to wear heels – flats are comfort and style.
  • Whatever you wear, try it on first!
  • White is on trend this spring.

Were you able to attend? If so, what did you think about it?

Enjoy,

Ellen

Halls Event.

Last Thursday, I had the opportunity to attend the Halls It’s A Girl Thing event and I am so happy I did! It was crowded with fashion goers and I was able to see some great new spring looks. I was also fortunate enough to be able to be included on the tour from Halls to meet the buyers along with my fellow Kansas City fashion bloggers. Thanks, again, Halls!

Here’s a few of your local Kansas City bloggers.

Here I am with my friend Jeanee from Dirty Laundry. Thanks to Alyssa of Le Petit Monde for the pic.
 The TOMS shoe section.
I loved this Kate Spade dress. Wouldn’t it be perfect for the summer?
I also adored all of the beautiful Kate Spade jewelry.

What spring fashion trends are you looking forward to? I am still loving stripes (obviously!) and pastel shades.

Thanks, again, to our friends at Halls. Jamie and I can’t wait to come back in to shop!

Enjoy,

Ellen

Fashion Friday: Jewels

We all have our go-to accessories and jewels to amplify an outfit.  I usually always have a pair of studs in my ears, a few rings, a bracelet and a statement necklace. Obviously, not all occasions require all of these at once, but never know. Here are a few gems I have been eying.
  1. Glamorous studs – something a little different than the average diamond studs
  2. Chain bracelet – I love the mix of metals and the chunky links
  3. Statement necklace – This would look lovely with a plain tee or a patterned dress
  4. Bangle bracelet – Funny and fashionable – Kate Spade has a variety of fun colors and text bangles
  5. Rings – I love a great cocktail ring, or two, or three…
  6. Pink studs – These are perfect for pop of color to help with the winter blues

Pinspiration #10: Jamie’s Party Arty Fashion

For Party Arty, I have a blush dress, with gold embellishments on the top. I wanted to find accessories to accent the design already on the dress and also give a few pops of flash. The back has embellishments going up to the neck, so I found this great updo that coincidentally is named The Gibson! I decided on a nude tight with a pattern and for some pop my blue shoes and a flashy cocktail ring. And how can a girl go wrong with a dramatic smoky eye – check out the 7 steps to the perfect eye!

See all these pins and more on the White Table Style Pinterest Page.
    Happy pinning!

Events: Kate Spade Plaza Store Opening

I was lucky enough to attend the opening of the brand new Kate Spade store on the Country Club Plaza on Friday night, along with Jamie, and our sweet friend Jessie. Hosted by the ever stylish Meg Biram, the event was filled with color, pink champagne, fun freebies, and tons of beautiful, classic items from the one and only Kate Spade.  Here’s a few pics from the night…

The front of the store is definitely an eye catcher with it’s bright green signage and candy colored stripes.

Beautiful crystal and gold pendant light fixtures.
The gift boxes behind the check out counter are a lovely visual by themselves.
Guests got in line for a hand monogrammed Kate Spade canvas bag.
Jamie sampling some of the sweet treats.  Love the striped paper straws.
Enameled bangles and patent leather hand bags.

The jewelry was one of the most popular tables in the store.  Lots of sparkle and tons of gold and jewel tones.

My favorite piece was this candy striped bangle…

    which I promptly purchased!

Thanks so much for joining us on our little tour of the Kate Spade store.  If you’re in the area it’s definitely worth stopping in for the fun shopping and the visual eye candy!
