Looks to Remember

Keeping in the summer wedding spirit, I couldn’t help but share my amazement on how J.Crew has grown their wedding department. I remember when they only had a few bridesmaid and wedding dresses, and now you can find attire for the entire wedding party. I picked out a few of my favorite pieces below, but I insist, if you havent had a good ooohhh and aaahhh in awhile go to the J.Crew Wedding site. The simplicity of everything is what attracts me the most to their dresses and suits. The beauty of a bride and her maids is really in the celebration of the day…I love a blushing bride.

Fashion Friday: Weekend Outfit

Whether you are headed to a wedding this weekend or a BBQ with friends, here are five items that will get you there in style. In the summer, I am a huge believer that less is more. Maybe its the heat, maybe its the beauty of tan skin, but I really find myself wearing less accessories and more stand alone pieces. Not to mention a pedicure with a fun pop of color on the toes.

Have a wonderful weekend!
Au revior,
Jamie

This green is a perfect match/accent to all the bright, summer time colors

Perfect for a wedding or evening out
Throw this on for the farmers market or brunch

Fashion Friday: Its White Time

It is that time of year again…time for white denim. I have seen both skinny and boot cut styles out in the store. I even tried on a few pairs. I admit back in my late teens, I was rockin’ the white denim. I am glad to see the style is back in full force. I havent purchased a new pair yet, but I love the way they look with a great pop of color or two. Here is an ideal outfit to pair with white denim. I currently love mixing a few colors and then possibly another print. I didn’t add a print to this outfit since the wedges have a pattern in the actual woven wedge, but an animal print or even gold accent would also be nice with this outfit. I am also obsessed with coral right now, but I will save that for another day. I chose coral for the toes, to balance out the necklace, so you dont look too much like a Christmas present. Ladies, are you wearing white denim? Whats your favorite top to wear with them?

Au revior!

Dont forget the coral on the toes!

Fashion Friday: Pool Time

My pool opens this weekend. I repeat. My pool opens this weekend. I am ready and then again I am not. I need to make sure my winter skin is ready. But the worst part, I havent even bought a new suit. Have you? Here are a few essentials I found to head to the pool, lake or beach – of course in-style.

Au revoir,
Jamie

Floppy Hat
Love bandeau bikinis with boy shorts
Fancy thongs from Sam Edelmen (very comfy)

Terry cloth cover-up
Straw bag – perfect for magazines, water bottle, rolled up towel and dont forget the sunscreen

Spring to Summer Hair

I can slowly feel it. The air is changing and now so is my hair. I can style it to look perfect inside, but I am exactly like the many commercials, as soon as I step outside – things change. Luckily, there are some great products out there to help. Here are a few of my favorites and how I use them.

P.S. I know Keratin is HUGE right now. I am going to ask my trusted hair expert on some advice on these products and will report back!

Its a 10 Miracle Leave in Product I add this in when I am combing my hair right after the shower. This product helps to maintain that “just styled” texture and look all day long. Its a must when traveling, because it works in all environments.
Moroccan Oil I add this product after I have styled my hair, although my hair stylist also adds it before she blow drys my hair. I think it depends on your hair type, but I like to add it to the ends to add moisture and tame fly aways.  Warning – a little goes a long way!

blow pro – ready set blow I know I have raved about this product before, but its a new one for me, so I am still in my honeymoon phase. It protects hair from blow drying and the environment, and on top of that adds volume. I would use this or It’s a 10, but not both at the same time.
Hair Tie package from Mane Message Another repeat, but with summer coming up, I know I am not alone in always having a hair tie handy. These double as a bracelet and with fun colors you can match to every outfit. I just wish I could have invented these! They are wonderful – dont break your hair, are light so sometimes I forget I have it in and last a long time.

Setting the Table with LU

Photo from LU

Artistic Works by LU is located in downtown of Historic Leavenworth, KS. She has been making jewelry for over 10 years and decided to expand into a store front about 4 years ago. Along with her store, she also sells some of her products online. All of the works by LU jewelry are original designs by LU herself and are handmade in the shop. Not only is all the jewelry fun to look at, but LU has done a wonderful job displaying her designs on vintage decor, including luggage and vintage clothing racks. The feeling when you walk in the store is pretty amazing. She has also expanded to clothing and other accessories, to help bring an outfit full circle. If you have a chance to go by the store, she does have a bar where you can create your own necklace or bracelet. There are many different chains and jewels you can use to make your own one of a kind piece. This could be a great weekend adventure with some of your girl friends, grab lunch and shop for jewels. Be sure to Like her on Facebook to keep up to date on her ‘Look of the Week’ and other new designs. Here are a few of my favorite pieces and looks from LU’s.

Fashion Friday: Jewels

We all have our go-to accessories and jewels to amplify an outfit.  I usually always have a pair of studs in my ears, a few rings, a bracelet and a statement necklace. Obviously, not all occasions require all of these at once, but never know. Here are a few gems I have been eying.
  1. Glamorous studs – something a little different than the average diamond studs
  2. Chain bracelet – I love the mix of metals and the chunky links
  3. Statement necklace – This would look lovely with a plain tee or a patterned dress
  4. Bangle bracelet – Funny and fashionable – Kate Spade has a variety of fun colors and text bangles
  5. Rings – I love a great cocktail ring, or two, or three…
  6. Pink studs – These are perfect for pop of color to help with the winter blues

    What’s In My Bag: Emily

Hey everyone, today I’m going to share with you some of the things I always make sure I have in my bag. I recently got this new fun purse from a local Kansas City boutique Lovebird.  I was instantly drawn to the little pop of neon yellow and the way it contrast with the beautiful dove grey.
    My essentials:
    • My keys of course with “Good Cupcake” and “Bad Cupcake” caps from Urban Outfitters.
    • Rose print wallet from Target.  I’ve had this for years and I always get tons of compliments.
    • New Canon Elph 300 HS (a gift from my husband).  I’m absolutely crazy about taking pictures and video.  The quality of these images are AMAZING, and the video is almost as good as my DSLR.
    • Various lip colors including Cover Girl lip stain, gloss, and lipstick (all in pink).
    • Rosebud Salve.  Love it because you can use it not only on lips, but also dry cuticles, and hands.
    • Beaded pouch from RSVP in the Village where I keep all my business and membership cards.
    • Magenta square sunglasses from Donna’s Dress Shop.  Love the vintage shape, so 70’s.
    • My elephant print Baggu.  Got mine at the Chicago Art Institute gift shop, but they have a million styles online.  So adorable and eco friendly too!
What are some of your favorite things you carry in your bag?
