Cheddar Bacon Ranch Pull Bread

One of my great friends at work found an image of the Cheddar Bacon Ranch Pull Bread on Pinterest and requested it for her birthday. It was extremely easy, completely bad for you and very addicting! The original recipe can be found here but I did make a few tweaks. It would be a great dish to bring to a party.

Ingredients:

  • 1 unsliced round loaf of sourdough bread
  • 1 bag of grated sharp cheddar cheese (8 to 12 oz)
  • 1 bag of real bacon bits (3 oz)
  • 1 stick of butter (1/2 cup), melted
  • 1 tbsp ranch dressing mix (powdered)
Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Using a very sharp bread knife, cut the bread going both directions. However, do not cut through the bottom crust.
  3. Sprinkle cheese in between the cuts making sure every piece has cheese surrounding it.
  4. Sprinkle bacon bits on the bread and make sure it gets in between the cuts.
  5. Mix together melted butter and ranch dressing mix and pour over the bread.
  6. Wrap entire bread in foil and place on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes.
  8. Remove foil and then bake for an additional 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.
  9. Serve warm!
Enjoy,
Ellen

Holiday House Tour

Christmas is only two days away (so excited!), and we thought we’d share a holiday house tour with our readers.  And not just one, but all of our homes.  Sure we might be decorating for the same holiday, but each of us has a very different take on how we add some Christmas Cheer to our homes.  Take a peek, and we hope you have a very happy holidays!

Ellen’s Holiday Home

(Clockwise from top left)
My Christmas decorations are half vintage and half new – with my color palette being the typical colors of the season, red, green and with the addition of gold.  My growing collection of trees are from various places like NordstromCrate and Barrel and speciality shops. My only requirement for the trees? They must have glitter!

The favorite Christmas decoration I have is my vintage white Christmas tree. It lights up and plays music! My husband surprised me with it a few years ago after my mother and him searched for one for months.

My husband celebrates the Holiday with vintage glasses for an occasional glass of scotch. Plus, they are ready to go for whenever anyone drops by which always seems to happen during the Holiday season.

Instead of hanging my vintage ornaments or using the old replacement lights, I like to fill jars and canisters with them to display on the mantel.

Our stockings are from Crate and Barrel (the middle anchor stocking for our dog, Stanley, as a gift) and I include our initials on them by using ornaments from Restoration Hardware instead of having our names embroidered.

Much like Ellen my home is a mix of vintage and new decor.  However I like to use a bold color palette, that’s not traditional at all including pinks, oranges, purples, greens, and blues, with lots of accents of silver and whites.  The mantel is the focal point of our room with the tree nestled right in that area.  This year I decided to create a little installation using white lights, and tissue paper accordion streamers.  I love the big bold statement it makes, while creating a soft glow above the fireplace.

Our fireplace is really old, and definitely needs some repairs before we can use it for an actual fire, so instead I like to fill it with a collection of my vintage apothecary jars and candy dishes with tons of Christmas lights inside.

The tree is a collection of ornaments from my husband and I’s childhood, up to present day.  Many of them are really personal pieces, including this glitter butterfly that used to belong to my grandmother.

I found this oak leaves and acorn wreath and mini pipecleaner trees at Nell Hills this year.  I love that they all look super vintage.  I love the color of the oak leaves and acorns, and they’re supposed to be a candle wreath, but I hung it from the mantle instead.  The pipecleaner trees are nestled in with some mercury glass pieces that reflect the glowing lights of the tree.

Lastly this year I decided to tie ornaments to the super old chandelier we have in our dining room.  It adds just a little touch of festive decor to the focal point of that area.

Jamie’s Holiday Home

My mother gave me the little tree the first Christmas I was away from home in college. I have since moved it from one apartment to the next. I was happy to find the perfect spot for it at my new home, in front of the window, so you can see the lights from the street. The ornaments are a mix of glitter balls, glass balls, Barbie ornaments, including Ken, and my favorite are little people that I got from Germany. Growing up we always topped the tree with an Angel, so I was very happy to find this topper from Martha Stewart Kmart collection.

I have a few other items I have snuck out of my parents home, including my very first stalking, the German plate, and not pictured a nativity scene German candle pyramid. Over the years I have also added a few more modern accents to mix with the traditional items. I love West Elm and Crate and Barrel for modern holiday decor – thats where I found the silver tree and votive.

Whats your favorite holiday item at your house?

Happy Holidays from all of us at White Table Style!

Pinspiration #7: New Years Healthy Menu

It’s that time of year when we all start our resolution to eat healthier in the new year. On Sunday’s, I make a meal plan for the week (when ambition strikes I plan for two) and then go grocery shopping. It is a difficult task to balance the healthiness of meals while still introducing new recipes. I recently have been turning to Pinterest for new healthy recipe ideas and it definitely gets my foodie mind going. Here are a few recipes that I can’t wait to try in 2012!

Clockwise from top left:
Chicken enchiladas from Skinny Taste.
Baked potato soup from Skinny Taste.
Spaghetti squash lasagna from Skinny Taste.
Huevos rancheros from Women’s Health.
Cannellini beans, tomatoes and hummus salad from Salad Pride.

Favorite Thing: Cupcake A La Mode

There are tons of places in Kansas City to find amazing baked goods, but one of my absolute favorite is definitely Cupcake A La Mode.

pictures via Cupcake A La Mode

When you step into one of their shops the fun, bright pink decor instantly makes them a memorable spot, and once you have one of their cupcakes it’s all over.  I’ve been frequenting this business since they opened their first shop in the West Plaza area, and now they boast three different locations in just a few short years.  Here’s a video so you can see owner Lisa Clark in action and find out a bit more about Cupcake A La Mode.

I recently did a photo shoot for KC Weddings Magazine, and had to use lots of food.  I instantly thought of Cupcake A La Mode, not only because their flavors are delicious, but also because their cupcakes are so darn cute. They were great to work with, and since our shoot was “Sorbet” themed, I definitely used some of their delicious Raspberry Lemonade cupcakes (pictured below).
With the holidays just around the corner, and lots of parties to attend Cupcake A La Mode‘s beautiful and delicious desserts would make a perfect addition to any event, or a fabulous hostess gift.  And just for the record my favorite flavor is ChocoLatte!
Thanks for checking out one of my favorite things in Kansas City!
